Hurricane “Helene” wreaked havoc in Chimney Rock, North Carolina, from September 25 to 27, 2024, dumping approximately 360 mm (14 inches) of rain and causing severe flooding. During this period, the Broad River overflowed, destroying the community of around 125 people.
