NMI Ahyi Seamount YELLOW/ADVISORY – Unrest may continue.

Apr 17, 2025 22:15 – Unrest at Ahyi Seamount may continue, but no evidence of activity was observed in satellite data this week. The last observations of discolored water over the vent area were on March 30, 2025. Similar plumes on the ocean’s surface above Ahyi Seamount have been observed in satellite imagery sporadically since August 5, 2024. Seismicity was quiet although regional geophysical monitoring data outages occurred on several days over the past week. There are no local monitoring stations near Ahyi seamount, which limits our ability to detect and characterize volcanic unrest there. …
